A Vibrant Blend of Virtual and Physical: The Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2024 Orientation
In April 2023, the Women Techsters Fellowship launched applications for the Class of 2024 and out of 7,846 applications received, we admitted 2,267 Applicants.
We hosted 2014 beneficiaries who accepted the admission in a 2-week hybrid Orientation, a pivotal component of the Women Techsters Fellowship program which provides a comprehensive overview of the program and sets expectations for our Fellows. The orientation commenced on Tuesday, 3rd October and ended on October 13th, 2023.
During the virtual orientation, we were privileged to host industry speakers, CEOs of multinationals, thought leaders and esteemed Alumni of the Women Techsters Fellowship. They generously shared their personal experiences and insights with our Fellows through Goodwill Messages, Keynote Addresses, Workshops, and engaging fireside chats.
On Tuesday, 10th October, we hosted the physical event of the Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2024 orientation session at 21st Century Technologies in Lagos Nigeria, which the Fellows have eagerly anticipated. It was an amazing hybrid experience as we had over 500 guests in attendance and had over 700 fellows join the session online.
We had so many highlights at the Physical orientation and one of these would be the inspiring speeches delivered by our esteemed guest speakers. These remarkable guest speakers shared invaluable insights on how to excel in the tech industry and the wisdom shared left an undeniable impact on our Fellows.
The hybrid event proved to be an extraordinary experience for our Fellows, allowing them to establish personal connections with one another, connect with our esteemed guest speakers and Women Techsters alumni.
We had such an amazing lineup of Goodwill speakers like Lillian Barnard, President, Microsoft Africa; Ibilola Kasunmu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science & Technology, Lagos state (duly represented by Remi George, Deputy Director of LASRIC); Wale Ajisebutu, Chairman and CEO, 21st Century Technologies Limited; Lola Aworanti-Ekugo, Chief Digital Officer, FBN Quest; Ifeoma Uddoh, Founder Shecluded, and so on who graced the event with their presence, and we are convinced that it was such a memorable day for the Fellows as they had the opportunity to connect, and network with other Fellows. The event was expertly hosted by the Onyinyechi Ekumankama, whose ability to engage the audience from start to finish was truly exceptional.
Last week, the Women Techsters Fellows of the class of 2024 kicked off their classes across all learning tracks. Over the next six months, these women will have access to intensive training and we eagerly await the groundbreaking progress and incredible strides that these bold and dynamic women in tech will undoubtedly make in the months ahead.
