Africa Industrialization Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness and mobilize support for industrial development in Africa. The first observance took place on November 20th, 1989, making it a historic day dedicated to promoting industrialization as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation in Africa.

Introduction

Africa Industrialization Day 2023 centers around the theme of “Accelerating Africa’s Industrialization through the empowerment of African women in processing for an integrated market.” This theme emphasizes the importance of enabling African women to participate fully in processing industries and access integrated markets.

This Day holds great significance in promoting sustainable development across the continent. This annual celebration, observed on November 20, shines a spotlight on the progress, challenges, and opportunities in industrialization throughout Africa.

Africa is a continent rich in potential for industrialization.
