Curiosity and Passion: Zainab’s Journey into Data Science

Zainab Sadiq was born in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, where she spent a part of her life before her family migrated to Ibadan, Oyo state. From an early age, Zainab exhibited curiosity and a desire to explore new things, which has greatly influenced her educational and personal journey. Currently, Zainab is pursuing her education at Crescent University Abeokuta, where she is a 300 level Computer Science student.

Zainab’s passion for technology blossomed as she delved deeper into Computer Science. She realized that technology is not simply a tool, but a powerful force that can shape the future and tackle complex problems. Additionally, Zainab discovered her natural aptitude for problem-solving and logical thinking, both of which are highly valued skills in the technology industry.

Recognizing her aptitude for statistics and coding, Zainab has set her sights on a career in Data Science. It was during her exploration of opportunities in this field that she came across the Women Techsters Bootcamp Cohort 2.6 training flier on the Tech4Dev Instagram page. She applied and got into the Bootcamp.

Throughout the Bootcamp journey, Zainab encountered various challenges, including financial constraints, time management between school and personal development, and the difficulty of finding proper mentorship. However, she is grateful for the impeccable patience and understanding shown by her facilitator, Mr. Clifford. His guidance provided her with a better understanding of Excel and has introduced her to the previously unfamiliar application of Power BI. Zainab commends Mr. Clifford for his expertise and effective instruction.

One of her proudest moments was receiving a certificate upon completing her training in Python. This feat is one of her most significant achievements yet.

Looking ahead, Zainab aspires to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. She also aspires to pursue a Master’s degree to further enhance her knowledge and expertise.

Moving forward, Zainab aims to maximize the knowledge she has gained from the training by implementing what she has learned so far and furthering her studies through online courses and other resources like YouTube.
