My name is Lilian Olelewe, currently, I am an undergraduate student in the Department of Law, University of Nigeria, and I live in Lagos, Nigeria. I am passionate about learning how to groom and develop myself and my skills. I am motivated by the zeal to succeed and impact society positively. I aspire to be a renowned professional in my career and to be the best version of myself in all ramifications.

I started my tech journey when my school embarked on ASUU strike as I wanted to upskill. I began by attending the Women Techsters Open Day for three consecutive months. I got a virtual internship with a reputable law firm during this period. Here, I learned a lot about Emerging technologies.

The training on emerging technologies piqued my interest, and I desired to learn more. I started applying for various Bootcamps, Internships, and fellowship opportunities from multiple tech platforms. During my search, I came across the Women Techsters Bootcamp flier, applied, and was selected for the Product management learning track.

I wouldn’t exaggerate if I said that all the time, energy, and resources I put into this training have been rewarding. For all it’s worth, I have been able to get it back ten folds judging by the knowledge acquired so far.

The training was intense as we had back-back classes and assessments, but it further drove my zeal to learn. I sincerely appreciate Tech4Dev and the entire team for the opportunity. My highlight of the training was when my team members and I were given a task to review a product and present it in less than 24 hours, and we could execute this task flawlessly. It made me see and measure my growth.

During the training, I was able to familiarize myself with prototyping tools like Figma, Miro, Whimsical, etc. I have also learned about soft skills like People management, communications, and empathy.

The Bootcamp facilitators were instrumental in my growth because, without their patience and understanding, I would not have learned as fast as I did. I have already begun to network with them for further mentorship, as the case may be.

The Bootcamp training has influenced me to take positive and bold steps in shaping my journey into tech. I have basic knowledge of Product Management, and I won’t stop here. The training has opened doors for me as I can now apply for entry-level training positions and internships from companies and organizations. I have also signed up for a couple of Bootcamp trainings and received great feedback.

Moving forward, I plan to maximize the knowledge gained from the Bootcamp training by joining Tech communities to create a suitable environment for my growth as a tech enthusiast. I would also maximize knowledge gained by networking better while applying for tech roles.
Moving on, I plan to give myself to learning and get better acquainted with Product management.

To every young woman trying to navigate the tech world, I would like you to keep trying. I had several rejection emails from organizations before I found Tech4Dev, and I was able to get my acceptance mail. Check out various platforms and Initiatives, give it your best shot every time you submit an application, and it will work out in the end.

Thank you to Tech4Dev and every team member.
