My name is Mojisola Aramide, a 27-year-old trailblazer. Being the first child in my family and a first-generation student, my journey has involved carving my path and seizing growth opportunities. I come from a family of five strong women, and as the eldest sister, I’ve embraced the roles of provider and guide. My mission is to inspire my younger siblings, women everywhere, and future generations, illustrating that with determination and resilience, barriers can be overcome.

My passion lies in the realm of technology and development. I discovered coding in 2018, captivated by the vibrant colors of the code editor. Despite facing skepticism from a male friend when seeking guidance, I enrolled in a university to study Information Technology in 2019.

The transition into the field of technology without a clear roadmap can be challenging, as experienced during my journey from Information Technology to Software development. Despite facing obstacles, such as struggling with project initiation and overcoming fear, participation in initiatives like the Women Techsters Bootcamp in 2022 have been pivotal in shaping my career path.

The practical experiences gained from internships and contract jobs, along with mentorship from programs like the Women Techsters Bootcamp Alumni community, have been instrumental in enhancing my technical skills, particularly in areas like GitHub and project management. Challenges, such as tackling complex tasks like designing a QR code, have been opportunities for personal growth and learning how persistence and breaking tasks into manageable steps can lead to success.

Building a collaborative and communicative team environment has been a key feature of my part-time leadership role as Backend Developer in Techsterverse where soft skills learned during the Women Techsters Bootcamp training have played a significant role.

Reflecting on the financial impacts of these experiences, paid opportunities and the credibility gained from certifications like the Women Techsters Bootcamp have positively influenced my economic situation.

Moving forward, I envision myself securing a full-time position in the tech industry, further honing my skills as a software developer, and contributing meaningfully to projects. Continuous learning, exploration of new technologies, and advancement within the field of technology are key aspects of my future aspirations. With a firm foundation in software development and a drive for growth, I am optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead in my career.

My advice to others embarking on a similar journey would be to continue seeking learning opportunities, build a strong portfolio, and actively engage in project-based work to showcase skills to potential employers. Entering a tech career isn’t a quick path to financial success, and the journey can be tough. Motivation may wane, but it’s crucial to remember the authentic reasons for embarking on this path.

Thank you so much, Tech4Dev for this amazing opportunity. I am grateful.
