The Women Techsters Bootcamp was Transformative — Rofiat Alade

Imagine a Mechanical Engineering student whose life takes an unexpected turn from gears and levers to lines of code and digital innovation. What started as a simple C++ course soon transformed into a thrilling journey through web development, sparked by a chance discovery and a game-changing Bootcamp. Dive into this story of how a brief but intense training session reshaped Rofiat’s career path and opened doors to a world of technology she never imagined.

My name is Rofiat Alade, and I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on manufacturing and production. Recently, I made the exciting leap into software development, a transition that started unexpectedly. During my second year of university, I registered for a computer programming course in C++. I was immediately captivated by it, and that spark ignited my passion for tech. After completing the course, I began exploring other tech fields. A conversation with a friend led me to web development, and with some tutorial videos in hand, my journey into technology truly began.

I discovered the Women Techsters Bootcamp through a WhatsApp group I joined, and I jumped at the chance to apply. For me, this was a rare and invaluable opportunity to deepen my knowledge in software development — one I couldn’t afford to miss.

The training was nothing short of transformative. Despite being just two weeks, it was packed with insights and hands-on experience that I could scarcely believe as a beginner. I’m now able to develop websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with Fetch API, skills I never thought I’d master so quickly. A special thanks goes to Mr. Abba Adamu, our facilitator. His patience and engaging teaching style made a significant impact. He managed to cover all the critical aspects of the course without overwhelming us, which I truly appreciate.

The training not only enriched my skills but also allowed me to connect with new friends from various places. Although the time was limited, the experience was invaluable. I’m eagerly looking forward to joining the Women Techsters Fellowship and diving deeper into this field.

I believe this training will significantly improve my economic situation and provide me with a clearer vision for my future. As technology continues to advance rapidly, it’s essential to stay ahead, and this Bootcamp has given me the tools and confidence to do just that.
